Human Beings Being Human (ERRR v2) - neon light
Human Beings Being Human (ERRR v2) - neon light
Unique - just one of these exists. There is another “ERRR” piece with a different text background (see live, laugh, love! entry) but these are the only pieces using ERRR and both are different.
This is actually a piece partly about judgement. Underneath “human beings being human” is “humans are idiots”. This reflects that we often judge or call out others for being (what we think are) idiots, when in reality they are acting in a natural way typical of human nature with all its flaws and mistakes, plus varied experiences which are channelled into how we react to a situation. It’s really a message about not judging people straight away without knowing their story. Though our tendency to judge is itself also a product of those experiences, flaws and mistakes too, and in itself is a very “human" attribute.
Neon (argon and mercury) in glass tubes on acrylic, archival print, aluminium, in deep aluminium frame. UK transformer (Hansen Converter).
The glass (light) letters ERRR were actually spare letters I did when bending my “RESET’ glass. I had an idea to use these extra letters to do a tongue in cheek ERRR piece - got a bit carried away and as there are two ERRRs (albeit with different backgrounds) I had to bend another set of glass. So my plan to use up my spares went a bit awry but for the best of reasons!
